This site is two things. It’s a mixing service for independent artists and bands, and it’s a notebook where we write short posts about the gear behind records we love: microphones, compressors, consoles, guitars and amps, and the occasional instrument with a strange history.
Posts are short on purpose. When a claim comes from an interview, a review or a book, we link to it so you can read the original. When we talk about a modern recreation of a classic piece of gear, we say so. We’re not going to tell you a reissue was on a record from 1965.
